Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.
— Helen Keller
From Whispering to Screaming exhibition reflects the latest transformations in our lives. During the pandemic we moved to the woods of the East Coast. This move inspired a series of mythological creatures who live on top of tall trees and see the imminent changes on the horizon as opportunities for future spiritual growth. Then, on the 24th of February, Russia brutally invaded my motherland and my work shifted dramatically. My sculptures became punctured with holes, as if they too got shelled by bombs and propaganda. I am glued to the news and speak to my family in Kiev every day.
We are in the moment of an unimaginable future. It seems we still have more of these excruciating experiences to go through before approaching the age of peace and creativity. As an eternal optimist I believe deeply in the goodness of people everywhere. We are the Earth’s consciousness and it is up to us to steer the future in the proper direction!

Listen Europe is about a shared geographic and cultural experience, speaking to Ukraine’s position between Russia and the rest of Europe. The piece is also about the endless talks, negotiations, rumors and bureaucracy ensnaring us into passivity. The two figures share another connection by the tumultuous dark blue cloud lurking on top of their heads; the menace of totalitarian regimes that threatens many parts of the world, including Europe. This piece has been juried into the Summer Surprise! exhibition at LexArt.

Sirin flew to a new home in New Hampshire! She has been picked up by this beautiful family and I got the best compliment from the new owner, who told me that she found her children whispering secrets to my sculpture in the mornings!
My next workshop Dreams in Clay: Creating Personal Mythology in the South of France scheduled in Saint-Raphaël, France from September 6 – 15. This is a perfect place to soak in the scenic wonders of the Riviera, savor the Mediterranean way of life, and channel your creativity!
During this 10-day intensive workshop we will be inspired by and immersed in the beautiful environment of French Riviera. The days will be comprised of both studio time and relevant excursions. Historical sites such as ancient Roman ruins and medieval chapels, as well as daily Mediterranean life, will be investigated and explored. Every day will begin with a demonstration of different hand-building techniques, as well as surface treatments. The ceramic surface will be approached as a canvas to create vibrant, dynamic surfaces of visual storytelling.
