Dreams in Clay: Workshop in Southern France

France just experienced some record-breaking heat but I’m sure that September will be a beautiful time to be in Saint-Raphaël and teach another intensive 7-day workshop at the International Artists Residency Exchange! I have been brushing up on my French vocabulary and am looking forward to returning to this gorgeous part of the world, to soak up the endless reservoirs of history and mythology, bask in the Mediterranean culture, and guide students on an exploration of their own personal mythologies.

Dates: September 9– 15, 2019

The deadline to register is coming up soon — August 1st! — but there are still spaces available. You can find registration and more information here: https://internationalartistsresidencyexchange.com/index.php/en/events-en/8-inaugural-workshop-natasha-dikareva-dreams-in-clay

Hope to see you on the Riviera!

Surrealist Totems from Ojai are ready for spiritual deployment

I had a blast teaching my Surrealist Totems workshop in Ojai! it was great to share my knowledge with an amazing group of students at the Beatrice Wood Art Center, a place filled with the spirituality of many dedicated artists and thinkers. I was also lucky enough to stay in the room of Joseph Campbell, the godfather of Star Wars! His deep scholarship on mythology is very inspiring and I’m sure his ideas are already permeating my subconscious.
Looking forward to teaching there again next year!

Surrealist Totems Workshop at Beatrice Wood Center For the Arts

I am very excited to announce my upcoming workshop in Ojai, CA at the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts! I will be demonstrating and leading students through an exploration of personal iconography to create ceramic sculptures which reflect the unique qualities of each maker.  The workshop will be held in beautiful Ojai, California, an idyllic nature space, which inevitably inspires a nourishing and centering spirit within everyone. The Beatrice Wood Center is a great museum, gallery, workshop and library space, transformed from the former studio and abode of Beatrice Wood, an artist said to be the Mama of Dada. She was a great experimenter, with inexhaustible curiosity and wonder and I am looking forward to channeling this wonderful energy in September!

Happenings in the year of the Yellow Dog

Lots of momentum in the new year and I am looking forward to sharing work in shows all over the country!

Deconstructing the Conversation

Several of my pieces will be at the 52nd Annual Conference of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. CrossCurrents: Clay and Culture, is the theme for NCECA’s 2018 conference and reflects Pittsburgh as a city of rivers, bridges, complex immigrant history, gritty perseverance, and reinvention.

Morgan Contemporary Glass Gallery is hosting a collection of fantastic ceramic artists and I am honored to be included in the show:

Three Generations: Moving Beyond Boundaries

In March, I am very excited to share the gallery at Abrams Claghorn with my stepfather and my daughter, a painter and a fiber artist, respectively. This exhibition showcases three different approaches to the question of place. All three of us carry our worlds within, irrespective of our geographic location. Yet we each find a distinct path, transcending limitations of language and focusing on our individual gift of imagination, sharing our worlds of possibilities and transformation.
